How to farm resources fast
in Viking Rise

Every upgrade, every troop and every research in Viking Rise ends at the same bottleneck: food, wood, stone and gold. Here is where they actually come from, and where most players lose more than they realise.

The four sources, ranked by what they are worth

Resources reach your city through a handful of channels, and they are not remotely equal:

Only the first one answers to effort. Which is why the practical question is never "how do I gather faster" — it is how do I stop the marches from standing still.

  • Map gathering. Sending marches to resource tiles. Unlimited in principle, limited in practice only by how many marches you keep moving — this is the one that scales.
  • City production. Ticks along on its own. Reliable, and capped by your buildings no matter what you do today.
  • Events and quests. Real income, but finite and on someone else's schedule.
  • Raiding other players. Lucrative, situational, and it makes you enemies who remember.

The idle-march problem

A march that returns while you are asleep, at work or in a meeting contributes nothing until you open the game. Add that up over a week and it dwarfs every gathering-speed bonus you own — because those bonuses multiply time spent gathering, and idle time multiplies by nothing.

This is the single largest source of lost resources for the average player, and it has nothing to do with how well you play.

What to gather, and when

The right priority changes as your city grows, and following it costs nothing:

  • Early on, wood and food. Almost everything you want to build and train needs them, in quantity.
  • Mid-game, stone. Building levels start demanding it faster than you have been collecting it, and it becomes the wall.
  • Later, gold. Research and higher upgrades lean on it, and it is the one people are always short of because they never farmed it deliberately.
  • Always, whatever is blocking you. Look at the queue you cannot start. That is the answer, whatever the general advice says.

Mistakes that quietly cost the most

None of these are dramatic. They just leak resources every day:

  • Gathering what you already have. A full granary while the stone queue is stalled is a wasted march.
  • Chasing distant high-level tiles. Travel time is dead time. A closer tile that starts now often beats a richer one two minutes away.
  • Leaving marches unassigned. An unused march slot is a permanent, invisible discount on everything you produce.
  • Farming with the main city only. Marches are per account, so a second account is the only real way to raise the ceiling.

Where automation fits

Nothing above requires a bot. Every point of it is playable by hand — the catch is that it has to be played every ninety minutes, forever, including the ninety minutes you spend asleep.

That is the gap vikingsBot fills: it visits each account, finds the idle marches and sends them back out. It does not gather faster than you would; it gathers at the hours you would not.

Questions, answered.

What is the fastest way to get resources in Viking Rise?

Keeping every march gathering, all the time. Gathering-speed bonuses help, but they only multiply the time your troops are actually out — and for most players the biggest number in that equation is the hours the marches spend sitting at home.

Is it better to gather high-level tiles far away?

Often not. Travel time counts against you twice, out and back, and a nearer tile that starts immediately frequently wins over a richer one across the map. The exception is when your marches are large enough that the yield gap outweighs the trip.

Do I need farm accounts to keep up?

To keep up with players who have them, broadly yes. A single city's march slots are a hard ceiling on gathering, and extra accounts are the only way to raise it.

Can a bot gather faster than a person?

No — the game decides the rate, not the client. What a bot changes is coverage: it is there at 4am to send the marches back out, which a person is not.
