Gathering speed, capacity
and march slots

How much a Viking Rise account gathers in a day comes down to three numbers multiplied together — and to a fourth that most guides never mention, which is how many hours those numbers are switched on.

The three multipliers

Everything that improves gathering does it through one of these. Knowing which is which is what stops you from spending on the wrong one:

  • March slots — how many gathering parties you can have out at once. The most valuable of the three, because it multiplies everything else and is the hardest cap to work around.
  • Load capacity — how much a single march can carry home. Raise it and each trip is worth more, with no extra attention from you.
  • Gathering speed — how quickly a tile is drained. It shortens the trip, which matters most when you are actually there to send the march out again.

Why they interact more than they add

These do not stack side by side, they compound. Doubling capacity on twice as many marches is four times the haul, not double — which is why a balanced account outperforms one that dumped everything into a single stat.

It also explains a common disappointment: gathering speed alone often feels like it did nothing. Finishing sooner only helps if something sends the march back out. Otherwise a faster trip just means the troops start waiting earlier.

The fourth number nobody counts

Call it uptime — the share of the day your marches are actually gathering. It sits outside the other three and multiplies all of them, and unlike them it costs nothing to improve.

An account checked twice a day might have its marches out half the time. One checked every ninety minutes keeps them out nearly all of it. That gap is larger than most speed bonuses in the game, and no amount of capacity makes up for troops that are standing in the city.

What to improve first

In rough order, for a player who has to choose:

  • Uptime. Free, and usually the biggest single gain available.
  • March slots. Every additional one is another full multiplier.
  • Capacity. More per trip, without needing you to be present.
  • Speed. Real, but the one that depends most on someone being there to restart the march.

How this looks with automation

vikingsBot does not change any of the three multipliers — it cannot, and neither can any other bot. What it changes is the fourth one: it visits roughly every 90 minutes and puts the idle marches back on tiles, so the bonuses you already paid for spend more of the day doing something.

Questions, answered.

Does gathering speed increase how much I get from a tile?

No — it changes how fast you drain it, not the total. To bring home more per trip you need load capacity; to bring home more per day you need more marches out for more of the day.

Are more march slots better than more capacity?

Usually, because a march slot multiplies everything else you have — but only if you can keep the extra march busy. An idle slot is worth nothing at all.

Can a bot increase my gathering speed?

No. Gathering rates are decided by the game from your buildings, research and buffs. A bot only affects how much of the day your marches are gathering rather than sitting at home.

What is a realistic uptime by hand?

It depends entirely on your day, but sleep alone takes a third of it off the table, and work or school takes another chunk. Most players who track it are surprised how far below half they land.
